GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, helping neurons stay selective about the signals to which they respond and helping produce a state of relaxation. Taken at bedtime, supplemental GABA may assist some people in the initiation of sleep and produce a deeper and more beneficial sleep.185-189 Dietary GABA may also help maintain healthy blood pressure in those already within normal range.189-192

The dosage recommended is 1/4 teaspoon or 700 mg. My doctor recommends no more than 500 mg of Gaba powder. So I do adjust the dosage. I dissolve the less than a 1/4 teaspoon in a couple of ounces of water. The taste is mildly bitter. I could make my own Gaba by cooking brown rice for hours over a very low temperature but I don't have a rice cooker with a thermostat on it. I have confidence in the product that it is high quality. So far I have managed to reduce my psychiatric medicine from 40mg to 5mg. My psychiatrist tells me that Gaba helps replace its action in my brain. I am ready to get rid of the side effects of the medication.
