The mitochondria are the cells’ energy powerhouses, and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an essential component of healthy mitochondrial function.30 CoQ10 is required to convert the energy from fats and sugars into usable cellular energy. It seems to work very well. My husband and I have been on The Atkin's Diet for a year. We are not regulating fat or protein calories but the carb grams instead. My husband has been able to drop 3 of the 4 meds he's been on for the past 20 years. We think the CoQ10 has helped with that for his heart health.
