IGF-1 (Somatomedin-C)
Item Catalog Number: LC010363
Insulin-like Growth Factor 1, also known as IGF-1, is used as a biomarker for blood levels of human growth hormone. The blood level of IGF-1 appears to be constant over 24 hours and is found to be related to growth hormone secretion.
It is a hormone produced by the liver and other tissues which affects growth-promoting activities and glucose metabolism. Because IGF-1 is related to the production and secretion of growth hormone (HGH), many doctors use this measurement to assess growth hormone status.
Fasting is not required. Take all medications as prescribed, including growth hormone replacement. This test is included in the Lichten comprehensive male and female panels.
