Interleukin-6, also known as IL-6, acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by immune cells in response to trauma and cellular damage related with the aging process. IL-6 is essential to the body’s ability to repair aging cells and tissues.
