Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Quantitative, Real-time PCR
Item Catalog Number: LC550080
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease affecting the liver, caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). This infection is often asymptomatic, but once established it can progress to chronic scarring of the liver (fibrosis and cirrhosis).
In some cases, those with cirrhosis will go on to develop liver failure or other complications of cirrhosis, including liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact.
This test is used to determine the number of international units (IU) of hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA per milliliter of serum or plasma in known HCV-positive patients.
Fasting is not required for this test. Take all medications as prescribed.
