This test provides a more comprehensive heart disease risk assessment than a conventional cholesterol test. By directly measuring (not estimating) total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, VLDL, and several clinically relevant cholesterol subclasses, the VAP® test allows your doctor to fully assess your risk of coronary heart disease … and more effectively tailor follow-up assessments and treatment strategies.
This test covers but is not limited to:
- Total cholesterol and all subtype measurements
- Atherogenic (plaque-forming) particles like LP(a) & APO-B100
- LDL-cholesterol density patterns and particle size
- Measurements of the most protective to least protective forms of HDL-cholesterol (good cholesterol)
Like all lipid testing, the VAP® test requires you to fast for 8 to 12 hours prior to your blood draw. Don’t eat or drink anything other than water. But you can take your prescription medications.
