This test provides a more comprehensive heart disease risk assessment than a conventional cholesterol test. By directly measuring (not estimating) total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, VLDL, and several clinically relevant cholesterol subclasses, the VAP test allows your doctor to fully assess your risk of coronary heart disease … and more effectively tailor follow-up assessments and treatment strategies.
This test covers but is not limited to:
- Total cholesterol and all subtype measurements
- Atherogenic (plaque-forming) particles like LP(a) & APO-B100
- LDL-cholesterol density patterns and particle size
- Measurements of the most protective to least protective forms of HDL-cholesterol (good cholesterol)
Like all lipid testing, the VAP test requires you to fast for 12 hours prior to your blood draw. Don’t eat or drink anything other than water. But you can take your prescription medications.
This test must be purchased separately. It is not included in any comprehensive blood panels Life Extension® offers.
