Stress! We all feel it from many different sources….job demands, relationship conflicts, hectic schedules and illness. The list is endless and none of us are immune.
The main purpose of your adrenal glands is to enable your body to deal with stress from every possible source. They determine your body's responses to every change in your environment. No matter what they signal – "fight" or "flight" - every cell responds accordingly, and you feel the results.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
If the answer is YES – your body may be on its way to hormonal bankruptcy!
The Stress Management Profile contains the following tests:
This panel requires two blood draws. One blood draw will be performed at approximately 8 AM after you have been fasting for 8-12 hours. (Please drink water in order to stay hydrated and take all medications as prescribed.)
You will return to the laboratory at approximately 4 PM (or as late in the afternoon as possible) for the second blood draw of a second cortisol specimen. Since cortisol production is highest in the morning and falls as the day progresses, two cortisol results in the same day are the most helpful in evaluating adrenal function.
