Target Audience: cardiologists, general internists, family practitioners, endocrinologists, psychologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, respiratory therapists and other healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Statement of Need: A key strategy for addressing heart disease and stroke is to educate healthcare practitioners and the public about the importance of prevention. When healthcare providers perform consistent risk factor assessments, more patients can be properly diagnosed and medically managed to prevent cardiovascular disease. Both primary and secondary prevention, as well as new developments in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease, need to be addressed.

How Our Bodies Respond to Oxidative Stress

Thursday, March 12, 2015, 6:30 p.m.
Michael Sugerman, MPH

• Nervia® is a dietary supplement that supports peripheral nerve health and joint function in the hands and feet.
• Based on scientific research, Nervia® appears to help modulate specific cytokine responses (protein-based signal messengers between cells) to oxidative stress.
• In our bodies, oxidative stress forms highly-reactive chemicals (called free radicals) which can trigger cascading cycles of pro-inflammatory cytokines . Over time, theses cycles can affect structural and functional changes in sensitive tissues, especially in the vascular system and peripheral nerves.
