Migra-Mag with Brain Shield™
90 vegetarian capsules
Item Catalog Number: 01800

Maintaining balanced neurotransmitter levels along with healthy blood flow to the brain can be an effective strategy to lessen the impact of head discomfort.1,2 Research has shown that two ingredients, magnesium and gastrodin, work in unique ways to lessen the distress of cranial discomfort.3-9

Studies have confirmed the effectiveness of the ingredients found in the new Migra-Mag with Brain Shield™ in targeting the key, underlying factors resulting in  head-cavity discomfort.3-9

Magnesium is the second most-common mineral inside our cells, but many Americans do not obtain adequate amounts of magnesium in their diets.10 This mineral has been shown to be a major factor in relaxing the smooth muscles within the blood vessels.11,12 This in turn supports normal blood flow and helps promote head comfort.9,11,12

Gastrodin, originally extracted from the root of the Chinese orchid Gastrodia elata, has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine formulations.13 Studies show that gastrodin enhances the presence of the calming neurotransmitter, GABA.4,5

Working through different yet functionally supportive mechanisms, the individual ingredients in Migra-Mag with Brain Shield™ have been shown to:

  • Support normal relaxation of the constriction of cerebral blood vessels.6,11,12
  • Help maintain a normal, healthy balance of brain neurotransmitters.3-5,7,8
  • Help promote normal blood flow to the head cavity.10,11
  • Help provide support against the normal stress and tension of daily life.14,15

Comments about Life Extension Migra-Mag with Brain Shield™, 90 vegetarian capsules:

Trimagnesium dicitrate is a form of magnesium that isn't common in supplements, so it is good that this product has it. But, it also has magnesium oxide. The product doesn't say how much of each, but, given that magnesium oxide is listed first, that means it is probably more than half! That means that this product probably contains only about 50 mg (or so, give or take) of trimagnesium dicitrate per tablet. The climical studies of trimagnesium dicitrate effect on migraines had much higher doses, several hundred mg.

Ironically, the product disclaimers indicate that magnesium can cause gastric distress and to discontinue use if that is a problem -- when the problem, if you get it, is probably from the magnesium oxide!

But, it does have have at least some trimagnesium dicitrate, and that is not common. And it also has gastrodin. Which is good. But only 50 mg.

I am going to just get their "Brain Shield" product with 300 mg of gastrodin. And get trimagnesium dicitrate from another vendor.
