Female Basic Hormone Panel

Item Catalog Number: LC100013

This panel contains the most essential hormones a woman should have tested. Each one is crucial to supporting optimal health.  Life Extension has written extensively on the numerous disease states associated with low levels of DHEA and its critical importance in promoting healthy aging.

However; before attempting to restore DHEA to youthful levels women should consider estrogen and testosterone testing when they take their DHEA blood test in order to evaluate DHEA’s effect on their blood levels of these hormones.

The Female Basic Hormone Panel includes:

  • DHEA-S
  • Estradiol (an estrogen)
  • Free and Total Testosterone
  • Progesterone

Fasting is not required. Take all prescription medications as prescribed.

If you have questions regarding hormone supplementation before blood testing, please speak with one of our knowledgeable Health Advisors at 1-800-226-2370.

Special Note

Any type of contraceptives that contain hormones will invalidate hormone results.

Generally good but poor with free T

Comments about Life Extension Blood Labs Female Basic Hormone Panel Blood Test:

Results have arrived quickly each time. I was concerned because my free testosterone level was reported as 0.0 each time, although my total testosterone is in the middle of the normal range. My husband is a medicinal chemist and researched it. Labcorp includes 0.0 as part of their normal range although when accurate measurements are done, 95% of even children have much more than this, and it's essentially impossible for a person with normal total testosterone to have zero free testosterone. The explanation seems to be that their test is geared only to being able to detect dangerously high testosterone, and is not sensitive enough to tell the difference between low-normal, or perhaps even mid-normal, and zero. So if you need this test to answer whether your free testosterone may be too low, you may not get accurate results from this Labcorp test.

Comments about Life Extension Blood Labs Female Basic Hormone Panel Blood Test:

I use this test every few months, to monitor progress with the bioidentical hormones I take. It is particularly good at tracking dhea. I was only taking 15mg dhea but found that levels got too high within several weeks. This test easier to work with than the saliva or urine testing and much more affordable.

Comments about Life Extension Blood Labs Female Basic Hormone Panel Blood Test:

Results come back very quickly right to your email inbox (if you choose); members can discuss results with Life Extension. I was supplementing with DHEA and wanted to check my level. My DHEA and testosterone were very high. My doctor would have never ordered blood test.
